Our Sustainability Policy

On The Farm
We haven’t strayed far from our farming roots. We have a variety of farm animals- sheep and cattle in the fields, the donkeys, horses, chickens, dogs and native black bees roam free on the farm. From our apple orchards, we make our own traditional cider, apple juice and apple cider vinegar.
What do we do?
Looking after the trees
We are planting native trees around the venue where they would have been planted historically. This year Will and Maddy will be planting another 22 oak trees around the farm.
3. Minimising produce miles
As well as being able to support local by using suppliers in the vicinity, we put a great deal of thought into our supply chain miles. We use Wye Valley Brewery, based in Herefordshire, using locally grown hops, and Three Choirs Vineyard for our wines, who are also Herefordshire based, growing their own grapes to produce locally made English wines.
5. Restoring and repurposing
As you walk around the grounds of Home Farm and inside The Haybarn and Cartshed, you will notice repurposed wood and equipment that started its life with a different use - a prime example being our Wonkey-Donkey Bar, repurposed from an old horse box, or the benches in The Cartshed, lovingly crafted from fallen trees around the farm.
7. Green energy
Last year we had 52 solar panels fitted to off-set our environmental impact, and to add to our end goal of being entirely self-sufficient. Our solar panels provide electricity for the venue and accomodation.*
*This project was part-funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
9. Continuously advancing
We are committed to continuously discussing further improvements and advancements we can make both in the long-haul or day-to-day.
2. Regenerative Farming
Will & Maddy still farm in the most sympathetic way, managing the land through regenerative farming with sheep and cattle grazing the pastures.
4. Supporting local
We’re big advocates of supporting local businesses! When our couples book with us, we send them a comprehensive list of local suppliers for their special day who we know share the same eco-friendly ethos as us.
6. Preservation
We have done our upmost to preserve the beautiful original features of the grounds, from the barn doors in The Haybarn overlooking the Black Mountains, to the Water Mill that has been carefully preserved until we can get it fully restored and potentially used to create hydropower in the future.
8. Recycling
We recycle where-ever possible, from upcycling farm materials to correctly separating out our day-to-day waste. Our next step is to make our bar service entirely plastic free.
